Participating in my research

Thank you for your interest in taking part in my research.
This research project is part of my Doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, accredited by Middlesex University and under supervision.
You can read more about me and my research here.

This project is exploring the experience of being postmenopausal – how is it to live in the world, in and of our postmenopausal bodies.

Participants need to be
– UK resident
– aged 55-69
– to have had a standard menopause (not the result of surgery, medical or hormonal treatment)
– postmenopausal (it is at least a full year since you last had a period)

What will happen in the interview?
I will ask you about your experience of postmenopause and the interview will be audio-recorded using Zoom. The interview will last around 60-90 minutes. Many people report that talking about postmenopause and/or embodied experiences is a relief, others that it can sometimes be upsetting; if at any point you feel uncomfortable, we will stop the interview and will only carry on when you are ready. If you prefer, we would end the interview and your data would not be used.

Confidentiality and privacy
All content will remain confidential throughout the study.  Any identifiable features will be changed to guarantee anonymity and data will be stored in compliance with GDPR guidance.

What if I want support after the interview?
If, following our interview, you would like to access menopause support please ask me. I will also provide you with a list of some relevant services.

A wide welcome
I very much welcome interest from those who feel their voices are less often heard and will do my very best to hold your stories with care and respect. Thank you.
